Demonstrative pronouns

Demonstrative pronouns or أسماء الإشارة (asmā’ al-ishirāh) are words like ‘this’, ‘that’, ‘these’ and ‘those’. They vary according to gender (male and female) and number (singular, dual and plural).

This/these (variations of هٰذَآ)

Plural Dual Singular
هٰؤُلاءِ هَذَانِ هَذَا Male
هٰؤُلاءِ هَاتَانِ هَذِهِ Female

That/those (variations of ذٰلِكَ)

Plural Dual Singular
أُولٰئكَ ذَانِكَ ذٰلِكَ Male
أُولٰئكَ تَانِكَ تِلكَ Female
